MAGGIORA (Novara) 16 June 2013

Sweet revenge after just one week. After being very unexpectedly beaten in front of his home crowd in Ernée France just a week ago, Gautier Paulin took revenge by beating the MX1 leader Antonio Cairoli in front of 38,000 spectators who flocked to the Italian GP.

Racing as always with his AGV AX-8 Evo helmet, again with different graphics from last week, Paulin clinched a sensational third win this season with a remarkable fight back in Race 1 which saw him cross the line in third place. In Race 2, he kept calm and fought off a determined attack from Cairoli who had been catching up on him in the last laps. The Kawasaki team rider however didn't let himself be intimidated and held on until he took the chequered flag ahead of the Belgian Ken De Dycker and Cairoli.

The other two AGV riders in the premier class were less fortunate. Shaun Simpson came home 11th in the first race but had to retire in the second with mechanical problems on his TM. David Philippaerts had a heavy fall during qualifying and suffered a badly bruised eye then, during Race 1, he fell again this time fracturing his left foot.
