The 67th "Motocross of Nations" which brought the season to a close starred Gautier Paulin and David Philippaerts in their AGV AX-8 helmets.
The Kawasaki rider in his role as team captain of the French squad was right in the hunt following a spectacular comeback from 11th to 5th position and was within a whisker of taking 4th but was hindered by a lapped rider just before the end of the penultimate lap. His start from third in Race 2 was hampered by a stone which affected his rear brake and prevented him from riding with the same fluidity he had in Race 1. He had to settle for 6th place which, along with the 5th place in race one, were the best positions attained by the French team.
An emotional day for David Philippaerts who ended the season on a high by taking 14th then 10th place in the Open Class placing the Italian team on the third step of the podium behind Belgium and the USA.
